Practice Work Shop (PWS) On  “Are Our Existing IP Laws Outdated In Addressing Obscenity In The Digital Age?”

Featuring: Arundathi Krishnadas

During last week’s PWS session, Arundathi Krishnadas, Associate, hosted a discussion on “Are our existing IP laws outdated in addressing obscenity in the digital age?”. The session commenced with a discussion on how IP laws should differentiate between obscenity and artistic expression in the digital realm. The members exchanged their thoughts on whether current IP laws are flexible enough to adapt to the rapid changes in digital content creation and distribution. The session then progressed into a discussion on how obscenity standards ought to be reevaluated in the context of evolving societal values and technological advancements. Finally, the session concluded with the members conceptualizing an eco-system that counter-balances the rights of online content creators, while also addressing societal concerns about obscenity and exploitation in the digital age.
